Main and Associated Work Main work covers procedures complete in themselves, beginning when the mechanic receives the order and ending when he has completed his task and returned the order.
Associated work enables the scope of the main work to be extended. It is allocated to the main work to which it is most closely allied in terms of components or function.
Main work can be identified by the last 3 digits of the job numbers, which are always between 000 and 499, whereas the associated work numbers end between 500 and 999.
Example:
Main work 21 21 000 Removing and installing or renewing the clutch
Associated work 21 21 500 Removing and installing or renewing the clutch
(clutch removed).
This means for example that the associated work 21 21 500 - Removing and installing or renewing the clutch (clutch removed) - could be allocated to main work 23 00 020 - Removing and installing engine.
The job numbers have seven digits, and consist of a two-digit main group, a two-digit sub-group and the three-digit serial number.
Job Numbers
Example: Main work: Removing and installing engine 11 00 050
Main group (Engine = 11)
Sub-group (Engine, complete = 00)
Serial number (050)
Associated work: Removing and installing 11 31 630
renewing chain tensioner
(engine removed)
Main group (Engine = 11)
Sub-group (Timing = 31)
Serial number (050)
Work Descriptions
The short form work description only defines the work procedure in general terms. Full details of pro-cedures are given in the repair manuals and service information circulars. Essential ancillary tasks such as visual inspection, greasing, oiling or cleaning parts and assemblies are included in the procedure.
Flat Rate Units
If the motorcycles design, the scope of the work, work procedure or tools and equipment used should change, the given AW will be checked, and where
necessary revised, in accordance with REFA time study methods.
1 AW = > 5 min.
12 AW = > 1 hour
Difficulties in carrying out the work arising, for example, from accident damage, corrosion due to road salt, unsatisfactory maintenance etc., should be calculated separately for the additional work time which they necessitate, and added to the given AW (work-time supplement = AZ).
"+ items
The associated tasks identified as "+ items are complete work processes (like main tasks), but without the time component for moving the vehicle from the parking lot to the workshop and back
